Lewis dropped in on the Milan 2009 Homeless World Cup this morning on his way to Monza. Attending Vodafone Foundation, who fund the event, Lewis met with players from all of the 48 nations competing in the tournament. Italian World Cup winner Marco Materazzi, who currently plays in the Serie A team Inter Milan, was also in attendance.
After having the honour of kicking off the first match of the tournament, Lewis said: "Meeting the players here today has been a great experience and it's inspiring to see how the power of sport can change people lives. Team Italia, as host nation, must be tournament favourite but I'll be hoping for a Home nations win. Maybe between us we'll be able to pull off a double victory in Italy this weekend."
Speaking from the event, Lewis added: "I want to pass on my congratulations to the England team, it was a fantastic result against Croatia at Wembley last night, what a way to get to the World Cup finals! It was an awesome display by the team and to have won eight out of eight qualifying games is pretty sensational. So again, congratulations and roll on next summer!"
