Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Corporate Partner Santander utilised its high-profile relationship with the Formula 1 team to help welcome employees from the newly acquired Alliance & Leicester bank to its fold.
Around 1500 of the company's 2000 UK staff were on hand to enthusiastically welcome Lewis Hamilton as he arrived at their Leicester offices and posed next to Santander's replica car with the trophy he received for winning the 2008 Formula 1 drivers' championship last year.
After meeting key Santander executives and doing some media interviews for a select group of UK broadcasters including Sky News, ITN and the BBC, Lewis met with some of the brave patients from a local hospice, signing merchandise and having his picture taken with them as a memento of the day. Lewis then took part in an informal and relaxed Q&A session with 350 Santander employees, who had all won the chance to attend the day as part of a nationwide incentive competition.
